What we do
As Catholic women we are aware of the need for positive and practical action in the service of the Church
We give our glad assent to the teachings of the Church and rejoice in the heritage which we have been given (click)
We are active in the mass media, taking part in TV and radio broadcasts on topics of Catholic concern, publishing feature articles and letters in the press, and ensuring that news of our various projects reaches a wider public.
We organise meetings, study days, and occasional pilgrimages to deepen our faith and inspire us for the future (click)
Prayer is central to our work - we have established a group called OREMUS specifically for this, and also have special prayer-cards for members to carry and use, invoking St Anne and St Joachim together with Spiritual Communion cards. In response to a real need, we have produced a Roman Catholic Identity Card for use on admission to hospital.
Our publications on various topics have proved popular. They include a Millenium prayer-book honouring Mary, a handbook for engaged couples produced jointly with a major Catholic publishing firm, and a range of booklets on topical issues
We run an annual Religious Education Project for primary schools
Our quarterly ACW Review includes feature articles, news of our activities, inspirational items, book reviews, and more.
